Hi all, i just encountered this error as title when trying to clean install win8.1 pro vl downloaded from the repository thread
I've burn the iso using usb dvd tool to a usb drive. Formatted to win8 pro and instantly install from either within win8 and during boot, all i got is the sad smiley face... :-/
    Things i've tried
    1. Disable windows firewall
    2. Disable windows defender

Hope you guys can provide me some professional experience. Thanks

Well, normaly you need to update drivers from manufacturer's side before new updates come from m$ servers but in you case even the os is not working so i don't really know what's your real problem :) better ask to m$ forum if you can and want of course.

PS : If it's a upgrade maybe your antivirus/ firewall is the problem, then disable it or try to do a clean installation.

First compare the SHA-1 hash from your version and the one on msdn side. I should be ok because you've downloaded from here. Some upgrades can lead to problems sometimes, this is known on m$ products. That is why it's better to do a clean installation.

I directly format c drive using cmd prompt from windows 7 installation disc and i believe it should be the "cleanest" method...however it still fails....
@elhassan i will try that and see if that works...dang maybe i should download core/pro version as well

Did you compared the hash from the one downloaded here and msdn one ?

so this is the one i downoaded from repo

    MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.8.1.PROFESSIONAL.RTM.X86.VOLUME.ENGLISH.DVD-WZT
    FILE: en_windows_8_1_pro_vl_x86_dvd_2791634.iso
    SIZE: 2,826,835,968 byte
    SHA-1: DD982AADCE2CBBB650699266324216D011846ED9
    MD5: 72FB625AECA0B3BC293AB26B230AD61A

install hashtab then right clic on the iso you have , select properties and go in the hash tab and compare with SHA-1 you posted above.

Because the version has been modified on 17/10/2013 by m$ staff to integrate other updates. The one you have was the precedent one. So don't worry.

yes it's a problem with some mobo, i don't know how to correct this, ask to your manufacturer , seems some people have the same problem.
Wait also for an answer from other users, something to see with UEFI, i suppose, but i don't use it as my mobo is not UEFI capable.

Try this, go into Bios setup and restore to factory defaults. This will fix the problem
