    hi guys

I would like to share an issue with windows 10 , i have been using it over a year now , it is kms activated ...
few days back task manager started giving 100% disk usage where as i was not running any anti virus or disk activity application , after long brain storming I figured it out that it has to do with Windows updates being stuck in the background and was not completing , so i have to disable windows 10 updates and then office 2016 updates as well , and the disk usage dropped down to 2% .

1 year is very much time for Windows OS. Install it again now.

I do not know how small or big is your disk, but both of these numbers are weird.100%, if only to download the updates, it is not possible, and 2%, if updates are disabled, it is impossible too. It is doubtful that so a little, of course, if you have couple terabyte or more hard drive and it is also only one partition, then it is possible. In any other ways is something wrong.

OP too impatient. Updates needed more time. "Brain Storm" or drought?

Well the issue was that the windows updates were creating issue with Hybrid boot of windows 10 , there were not being installed and disk usage in terms of I/O activity was reaching 100% , i am not talking about physical space on HD , it is 500gb HD and with ample free space.

Disabling windows updates and then also disabling microsoft office 2016 telemetry , the issues of high %age of disk I/O being shown in Task manager was resolved.

you are right , but this is another solution . My ACHI driver was not the culprit .

I think you should refresh Windows 10 right now. For some years, for it is too long.

you can try using some generic driver after uninstalling this one.

One other imp thing i hv noticed is that , although task manager shows 100% disk usage activity but if you calculate the percentages of processes and the MBs involved they are very less, so this may be an issue in task manager application itself in some cases.

right now again 100 disk usage went , i stopped the "superfetch" service and all is ok now.

well , i deleted the files in the windows\prefetch directory and again started superfetch service , now things going ok :) till now.
