I did a clean install of 10240 Pro 32 bit and all went well - it asked for a key, and I used the key on the nfo file in the download. Starts with W and ends with X. Do I need to activate this version? When I say activate it says cannot activate right now (I am online). Is another key needed or something else. I do not understand the KMS etc. I do understand the Windows Toolkit, but thought this could not be used on 10. Sorry to ask, but I am getting lost with the sheer number of posts. If needed I would be very grateful for a PM with a working key or instructions. Many thanks On a lighter note - first thing I did was install Chrome as default browser - hope Bill will forgive me
Thanks very much - worked perfectly- showing 180 days which I assume will automatically update itself. Sorry to keep asking, but I am now getting too old to keep up with all you experts!!
Yes, you don't ever have to worry. And when you need tl format you just do MTK again or any other auto KMS services, takes 1 sec and you're activated just like anyone who is permanently activated and did it the hard way, with upgrading and what not.
Microsoft could update the KMS protocol with a simple update patch, which could render the KMS activation nonfunctional, at least for quite a while, before the updated KMS tool comes out. Then again, Microsoft could patch the protocol again... In reality though, if the update of KMS causes a lot of trouble for legitimate customers, Microsoft might stick with the current V6.
Thanks for all the above help (elzna and oliverjia) - I would like to say how impressed I am with this release. It now detects the need for NTVDM for my DOS Database, and offered to install automatically. Database then worked perfectly. This could be fixed on earlier releases, but was quite a lot of hassle, and I only found it after a lot of Googling.
MS cannot patch the protocol upon their leisure even if they could. The reason is easy because they would get into trouble with the industry using masses of KMS activated machines
let me ask u this....why do u want to run a none genuine copy when u can run a MS official copy for free? that copy came from russia i would not install in my comp
Sorry I have probably boobed again - I cannot find a link for a clean install of 10240 ISO or ESD. The WZOR version was an ISO which worked perfectly. It is installed on one of my "other" desktops which I also use for Baidu. I did have an ESD file a few days ago which I could not convert to ISO, but now I see that there is a new converter. If you could PM me with a link for the download (or post link if allowed) I would be very grateful, and will immediately wipe the drive and start again once I have the ISO. I am lucky in that I have several PCs so I can easily burn DVDs etc on another PC if needed. You have helped me before and I am very grateful for all the kind people on this forum.
I'm lost!? So you have the Wzor ISO and you used it to update/install on another machine, but now you want to download another ESD to make the ISO again? Why can't you burn the Wzor ISO to disc or dump it to DVD with Rufus and use that? Apologies if I have mis-understood.
I am only asking this as MS User (MDL EXPERT) - see post above thinks that WZOR versions are not the best, and I should use a clean version downloaded from Microsoft. The WZOR ISO version from the link on this forum was burned to a DVD which installed without any problems. Do you think the WZOR version is safe to use? The WZOR version seems to be working perfectly, but I could start again with a Microsoft download if I had a link and if the ESD file converts to ISO. I have no problems at all using ISO files, but I could not convert the last ESD file I had. I will try the new version of the ESD converter if that helps (I have seen a link somewhere on this forum) As I said before I cannot cope with the sheer volume of posts, and I am not trying to be lazy.
I am pretty sure that it has already been established that what Wzor released matches, at least the en-us x64 pro/core, the OEM copy that was leaked by someone else. If it's the same Wzor who leaked Win8 or 8.1, I have no problem believing it's genuine. In any case, if that turns out not to be true, it's just a matter of getting and installing the correct one.
Just to clarify the file I used is called 10240.16384.150709-1700.TH1_CLIENTPRO-CORE_OEMRET_X86FRE_EN-US.ISO Just done MD5 = 99FEB0F9E7262B7EEFA460840A31B59D - I burned it to DVD with IMGBURN and it verified OK. I wanted the 32 bit version UK, and I thought that the PRO seemed the correct version. I know I do not want the Enterprise version.
10240.16384.150709-1700.TH1_CLIENTPRO-CORE_OEMRET_X86FRE_EN-US.ISO is x86 pro and core (multi-edition) EN_US. You would want EN_GB for UK I believe. Current UK in file names, I think stands for Ukraine. You can pretty much gather what is what by looking closer at the file names. Enterprise would have Enterprise in it, in some form.
Further confusion now - Is there any reason why I should not use a multi language version? I am in GB, but I was given the choice of GB in the second box down on the first install screen. What would be the benefit of having a GB only version?
differences would be in the language displayed. US vs GB forms of words, like US would say potato, GB would say potatoe (maybe bad example lol)
