I did some more research and tried to extract "1737_A08.EXE" with WinRAR, WinZIP etc. Could not extract the BIOS file. 7-ZIP could actually extract the "flashabl.rom" file from "1737_A08.EXE" with errors (I thought flashabl.rom is the required file for this). So, I copied this to a USB pen drive and plugged in when the laptop was powering-on (ofcourse, I pressed END key when powering on). First it seem to be reading the pen drive but not after some time. Waited for 30 min to see if it was recovered. did not work. 1. How can I ensure the "flashabl.rom" extracted file is correct? Or do I have to really extract any .hdr file from the archieve? 2. It might be expecting the file with some specific name or specific to the laptop modal...what is the file name it is looking for? Also I am seriously looking if there is any other method to recover the BIOS. Please help. I will reply post the solution here if I come across any. Thanks for your time Medabalimi
Yen or Ambivert, Is the bios.wph that was created with wincris.exe that got created to your flash drive actually the bios itself? or is it another file that contains the bios file? I was hoping to get a bin file that I can apply with awdflash or something like that tool. I was hoping to use this information from this post to generate a bin file so that I can slic win7. Any advise? Thanks -Mike
BIOS.WPH file essentially should contain your BIOS. Before running wincris.exe you need get the BIOS archieve file from your motherboard manufacturer. Then extract either the *.rom or *.wph bios file from the archieve file which ever is applicable. Then copy this next to the wincris.exe and rename it as BIOS.WPH. wincris.exe do not actually create any any .wph file
Update. I think I got this resolved. Thanks. I saw your older posts in another thread that hinted of "temp" files. After double clicking the dell downloaded bios exe, I did a dir /s for *.bin on my local temp directory. I left the windows flashing application that extracted the files at a paused state, modified the bios bin file, then renamed the modified bin to what the application was looking for (what it was originally created) then clicked continue on the app. It wrote to the bios and did an auto reboot, as expected. -Mike
thanks thanks thanks, i have done all of methods but when i release the (end key) the red and white led flashing but the stick usb didn`t and i sure that`s 3 files are existing plz complete your help
llyx thanx for the quick reply the problem is that when i tried to extract the 1558_A04.exe file with 7-zip, it said "CRC failed. File is broken." so when i tried to extract the RCDATA\7000 to get the flashabl.rm, it said "Can not open 7000 file as archive." could you try to extract the 7000 file and if it works, could you send it to me? i'll be very thankfull - i'm struggling with this for two days thanks in advance!
i renamed the 7000 file to bios.wph and followed the procedure, but nothing happend the led turned red, the usb drive flashed about half minute, but after 10 minutes nothing happend it seemed that the 7000 file cannot be extracted any further, but it's not a rom file so maybe this is the problem
