    Windows 8.1 Pro.
In Admin Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management, one of my extra non-boot disks shows as 'System' type. Any reason why? It's causing me a problem when trying to do a 'System Image Backup' as it's selecting that disk too

    Any help appreciated. Thanks

OK that helps explain the 2, but why on earth is the 'System' partition split on to a separate disk to the 'Boot'!?

Have you ever had the system set up as dual boot ?

Bingo! That must be the reason............now, how do I identify and remove that 'System' partition from that drive.

I would just leave it as is. Big Deal. But you could boot into WinPE &:
    - run Diskpart, Select Disk 0, Active, exit
    - run BCDBoot C:\Windows /l en-us /s C: (assuming C:\ is your OS drive)
