    HP Insyde UEFI BIOS RECOVERY

    Laptop comes with Windows 7:
    This is the general process I use to flash my BIOS updates on my HP laptops as none of them run Windows. This also is the most-correct BIOS recovery procedure.

    Tested on G7-1277DX

    1. Find the "HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Support Environment" for your laptop model from the HP website.
    2. Execute this under windows and create a HP_TOOLS UEFI boot usb stick.
    3. If you can, on your laptop find the "System Board ID" in the bios. (should be a number)
    4. Obtain the latest BIOS update for your laptop
    5. Run phoenixtool on the bios you wish to recover.
      - If you have multiple .bin files, pick the one with the number closest to the number from step 3.
    6. You will get two files from phoenixtool...
      - RSA.SIG
      - <BIOS>F<VERSION>.bin.DEC
    7. Place both of these files on the usb stick at Hewlett-Packard/Bios/Current
      - RSA.SIG -> <BIOS>.SIG
      - <BIOS>F<VERSION>.bin.DEC -> <BIOS>.BIN
      For example:
      - 03453F12.bin.DEC -> 03453.BIN
      - RSA.SIG -> 03453.SIG
    8. Shut down your laptop, plug the USB stick, hold win + B and power on.
    9. Wait for the system bios to flash.
    This USB stick also gives you access to the "System Recovery" feature in the bios if you erased the UEFI partition.

    Laptop comes with Windows 8.x:

    I bricked my Pavilion dv6 6c80el laptop and i'm following your guide to recovery the BIOS.
    Now extracting the official bios from HP site i got a file called 017FC.bin, and i renamed it to 017.BIN (and 017.SIG) and it don't work. Any suggest?

    Thanks in advance.

    use phoenix mod tool on the bios.. this will create a RSA.sig file that u rename to your pc id under battery usualy starts with 0 like 1440 would be 01140.bin and .sig.
    if yours is efi.
    dont forget to make USB EFI environment.

    YOU ROCK KALLISTI5!!! WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!! :yeahyeah::yeahyeah::yeahyeah:

    Looked everywhere for the solution, and even went to HP SUPPORT FORUM and one of the HP technician said this:

    Which is totally WRONG since I have a 2011 HP DV6t that has been reformatted and repartitioned without the HP_TOOLS partition. So pretty much the HP tech was telling everybody on the thread "NO SUPPORT FOR YOUR LAPTOP WITHOUT FACTORY HP_TOOLS PARTITION, YOU CAN'T RECOVER WITH JUST A HP_TOOLS USB, TOO BAD, YOU'RE SCREWED....." NONE of the HP Techs could answer the question everybody pretty much had was which BIOS .bin file(s) do we need and, and where the heck do you put the files so that the Bios Recovery Utility can flash the bricked BIOS?

    THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION!!!:worthy::worthy::worthy::worthy:

    reason they say that is .. there is no official support for phoenix mod tool. so they dont know it makes .sig and .dec file thats really the .bin

    Hi

    I have HP dm4 laptop and I have the same problem (Computer not booting after bios failed update). I tried the steps described but no success.
    I'm not getting the same files, It gives me 01433_SLIC.fd.DEC ,01433.fd.DEC and 01433_SLIC.fd files.
    Can you please give more details regarding the procedure on dm4 laptop.
    Thank you

    So does that mean I cannot use this method?
    If not, what can I try?

    Re-flash your BIOS using the last version and see if the problem occurs again.

    My HP Pavilion G4-1035tu was bricked because of failed flash. Tried many but just only one method worked:
    - Create a HP_TOOLS usb drive with those utilites on HP's site: HP System Diagnostics, HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Support Environment, HP BIOS Update Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)
    - Use xxxxx.BIN and xxxxx.SIG from ANDY tool: copy all to 3 folder: Current, New, Previous
    - Shut down laptop, plug the USB stick, hold win + B and power on
    - Release Win + B when it read the USB.
    - See the magic.
    My USB: mediafire /?1lskbsy6mp1r6lp

    hello to all
    i have read some of the posts here about bios recover i think i have undestud the main of the procedure, but i have some questions:
    i have download the bios from hp site: sp34600.exe
    i have extracted the files to a new folder and i have 3 bios files (i think):
    - 309DF21.P20
    - 309EF21.P20
    - 309DF21.P21
    well i was confused i expect only one bios file!!! . . . after loking and read some of those files i found something in the flash1.ini (yes i must say also that the bios file only work in windows mode):
    #PCI\Ven_8086&DEV_2592=309DH01.wph
    #PCI\Ven_1002&DEV_5653=309EH01.wph
    ROM_PCI_A!KA=80001000,25928086,0,309DF21.P20
    ROM_PCI_A!KA=80001000,25928086,1,309DF21.P21
    ROM_PCI_A!KA=80010000,56531002,0,309EF21.P20
    i have look in the internet about those controlers and i think my bios is the 309EF21.P20, because the PCI\Ven_8086&DEV_2592 is the intel video driver and the PCI\Ven_1002&DEV_5653 is the ati video driver, and my hp comes whit one ati radeon x700.
    of corse im not 100% sure about this.
    i have tryed some of those procedures to recover the bios but until now nothing . . .
    i must say that the hp had some problems, it was "stopped" for a wile, and when i decide to work with it again it has some problems that i have assumed that it needs one bios update.
    as i refered hp bios only work in windows mode but like the hp was erratic when i update it went wrong . . . but at the time it was the only metod that i knew to flash the bios.
    meen wile i found this forum i have read some posts and i wolld like to ask to someone that can help me
    the mais questions are the bios file is the correct one? can i try to update the bios with those metods once my bios only is flashable from windows?
    thanks in advance,
    sorry for my english

    your model in other post is ATI per HP specs
    file should be 309E.wph
    the E is ATI
    the D is Intel
    or try Bios.WPH with wincris.exe from xp (7 and vista have issues making proper usb)
    the Inysde steps in this thread dont apply to your model. its not EFI type.
    use Crisis disk method i believe
