k mdl people this is a weird 1!!! someone asked me if this was possible!!! if i connect 2 3g modems to the same windows 7 desktop can i double the speed of my internet connection!!! the 3g modem claims speed of 3mbps...so if i connect 2 such modems is it possible to get a 6mbps internet connection???
I doubt it. If that were possible you'd have heard of a lot of people already doing it. I'd think you'd have to choose one or the other. From time to time I've installed an OS via a wired connection and then activated the wireless card. For a time, both wireless and wired were active and working. However, I've never seen evidence of throughput cut in half by doing so. There was a time when using two dial-up modems would improve speed by separating incoming and outgoing signals (sort of) but that was a tricky thing at best. The thing is, you're high speed internet connection is capped by your ISP. If you want faster speed, you have to pay for it. That's why they have varying plans with varying speed caps and varying costs. They set the downstream and upstream speeds. The best you can hope for is to get what they say you're getting. In actual use, because of various system overheads, you almost always get slower than what they advertise.
Not without support from other end. Bridging the connections without other end supporting it leaves you getting different IP for both connections and OS wondering how to route your traffic. Never mind the rest, but it's just not viable solution.
@rawdata, with other end support i guess you mean the service provider right??? p.s. : i thinkyou got your signature upside down!!!nice...very innovative!!!
@stannieman, thank you very much!!! an acquaintance wanted to know if it can be done...i am just gonna tell him "no can do"!!!
