I have these but I'm not sure if it is the official md5 ...

    Mac OS X - 10.8.4 - 12E55

    mac-os-10.8.4.dmg : 016cf3572ba9649c3dfd36fa202f874d
    mac-os-10.8.4_mas.dmg : d1fb452b5c8d84bc98d9f734949ad31e

both of them have the same extracted bootable "InstalledESD.dmg" MD5 = b34b2e2f272133cf08f280f24d6fd59f
extracted bootable "InstalledESD.dmg" converted to Bootable ISO (using dmg2img) : 84cfde81c359969bbf73938b44ecce74

Go to apple site and click support and have a look at the downloads... They post the sums with all files on the website. Appstore maybe different, I refuse to use it.

I think we talk about the full dmg disc ... not updates ...

When you ask for a hash of OS X installer it's proof that you pirated it. There reason why Apple is not giving out any hashes is because the only legal place to download is from App Store and a hash is not needed since you know you are getting the real thing.

It's possible, I can confirm because I did this 1 1/2 years ago. The requirement is:
    1. Have installed osx with all its updates. [to avoid compatibility issues]
    2. Have QE working. A simple way to confirm, press Alt key while you are in launchpad (the icons will move by itself when press the Alt key)
    3. A good resolution. Revise the minimum necessary by apple.
