Go to apple site and click support and have a look at the downloads... They post the sums with all files on the website. Appstore maybe different, I refuse to use it.
When you ask for a hash of OS X installer it's proof that you pirated it. There reason why Apple is not giving out any hashes is because the only legal place to download is from App Store and a hash is not needed since you know you are getting the real thing.

It's possible, I can confirm because I did this 1 1/2 years ago. The requirement is: 1. Have installed osx with all its updates. [to avoid compatibility issues] 2. Have QE working. A simple way to confirm, press Alt key while you are in launchpad (the icons will move by itself when press the Alt key) 3. A good resolution. Revise the minimum necessary by apple.
