The following files are dependent on manufacturers bios string:
    • OEMBIOS.BIN
    • OEMBIOS.SIG
    • OEMBIOS.CAT
    • OEMBIOS.DAT

The following files are independent of manufacturers bios string,
but has to come from either a Retail or OEM install CD.
    Not VLK (Corporate).
    • nt5inf.cat
    • setupreg.hiv
    • DPCDLL.DLL
    • PIDGEN.DLL

    SETUPP.INI
    Home:
    Pro:
OOBEINFO.INI is unnecessary if you put the OEM serial into WINNT.SIF

Is the above statements true, or have i missed something?

Have done comparison tests on the 4 OEMBIOS files.
The 4 OEMBIOS files are NOT language dependent.
You can install them on any language or version of XPPRO/HOME.

However the DPCDLL.DLL & PIDGEN.DLL ARE language dependent.

I compared 2 identical untouched MSDN retail versions of XPPRO SP3.
One in English and one in Swedish.

The md5 of both these files differ.

That means it works like this:
English VLK with Injected English Retail files= Ok
English VLK with Injected Swedish Retail files= Not Ok
Swedish VLK injected With Swedish Retail files= Ok
Swedish VLK injected with English Retail files= Not Ok

The problems some people encountered with OEMBIOS.CAT on different language versions
    is because of this.

Why would you want to use XP starter??

I do not know what it is, but if you have home and pro, is starter a very stripped down version??

I have never had the opportunity to see this OS, so I cannot make an educated guess as to why.

    Sorry :D:eek:

Simple, Because Win XP Stsrter only avaiable in developing contries, thats why you can't see this os everywhere
if you want to test it, i can upload it to you
i have the iso (already slipstreamed sp3 on it)

No need, I can not see the use. Especially with the amount of useful ISOs around..:D

Thank you though. Can I ask why you spend the time slipstreaming and such? The OS seems not very useful..

Apparently Dell sold a lot of the SLP Starter machines. If you would upload the ISO, I will see if the files are similar, or if we can make something work..If you have the ISO and serial, I will install and attempt to revise the tool to allow activation..I say attempt....:D:D

I dont mean to be disrespectful, but why not just install XP Home on the machines as an upgrade. Is this possible???

    OEM Bios Repository

I don't know if this is a good thread for this question but here goes. Regarding the OEM Bios repository can anyone tell me what the 2nd column of text is? Why some files are deleted and what the overstrike text means?
