I have recently purchased and installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my laptop, i got the 64-bit version because it is supposed to be able to support my 4gb of ram, however when i right-click on computer and click properties it only says i have 3gb installed,
any help on fixing this issue will be much appreciated??
    thanks in advance,

Could be your BIOS settings (refer to manual). For example in Asus P5B motherboard BIOS setting called "memory remapping" must be enabled in order to use more ram than 3 GB.

What brand and model of computer ?
Some chipset may not see 4 gb of memory. It is hardware limitation, not software.

    Total Memory and Usable Memory

I have a 4 year old Asus Notebook. Both Vista and Windows 7 recognize that 4 gig of memory is installed, but only Windows 7 advises me that only 2.8 gig are usable. I was blissfully ignorant until Windows 7.

for one, how and when have u bought windows 7, when its not available for sale yet :)

remove one dim and see how much it sahows, then try second. if both shows 2 gb each seperatly then u need to update bios or find some option in bios.

If the BIOS says that only 3GBs are installed, then it's not W7's fault. :)
