i little confused you said if i dont see the "System Reserved" partition this drop to step 6 so i would install the "fix" on to my main drive C ?
Yes. If you don't have the System Reserved partition, install on your main partition ( C: ). You should install on the partition that has bootmgr on the root.
well i used the windows 7 loader and it didnt work, couldn't even boot to windows! just hangs on black screen and the white _ flickering. I have no choice now then to format and try this method. I'll report back letting you's know if it works. I am using windows 7 x64 untouched retail ver Acer Aspire 5738G
I have a XP/7 dual-boot system. XP is installed on drive d: . Disk management says XP is the active partition, there is no hidden reserved partition. So should I install wow7 on the XP partition?
If you have a blinking cursor after installing this, here is what you need to do to fix it Put your Win7 CD and boot->recovery->command promot Type c: (enter) bootsect /nt60 c: restart, that should fix it.
you don't have to format...you can boot the win7 dvd and run the repair tool...and uninstall wow7 from cmd
I'm not sure about dual boot systems. You might have to configure grub to see the partitions of xp and 7.
No, you will just be able to boot into windows instead of stuck right before the bootup process. I think there is something wrong with wow7 for a lot of systems atm, so just wait it out and see
Hi all my first post in this forums after reading months/years. Now on Topic: I had no chance to activate it with this method, had to do a system restore with the install DVD like some poster above. Maybe it just don't worked because I had used the Activation tool kit.
