Yes. If you don't have the System Reserved partition, install on your main partition ( C: ). You should install on the partition that has bootmgr on the root.

I have a XP/7 dual-boot system. XP is installed on drive d: . Disk management says XP is the active partition, there is no hidden reserved partition. So should I install wow7 on the XP partition?

    Nice post.

This will help a lot of people who are not keen to commandline.

If you have a blinking cursor after installing this, here is what you need to do to fix it

Put your Win7 CD and boot->recovery->command promot

    Type

    c: (enter)
    bootsect /nt60 c:

    restart, that should fix it.

I'm not sure about dual boot systems. You might have to configure grub to see the partitions of xp and 7.

By doing this method, would it activate windows still? or would it just remove the bootscript?

No, you will just be able to boot into windows instead of stuck right before the bootup process.

I think there is something wrong with wow7 for a lot of systems atm, so just wait it out and see

Both. I have the virgin retail. The serial turns it into a oem and activates.

Hi all my first post in this forums after reading months/years.

Now on Topic: I had no chance to activate it with this method, had to do a system restore with the install DVD like some poster above. Maybe it just don't worked because I had used the Activation tool kit.
