Won't activate with v2.1 SLIC?? Advice?

    Hey Guys,

    Modified my first pc (Gigabyte EP43-DS3L - Award BIOS) with v2.1 SLIC, and SUCCESS!! activated fine..

    Thought i would do the same with my ASUS m51va laptop, which this time is a AMI BIOS. Process was the same and the flash went well, however it wont activate for some reason after inserting certificate and key!?? Below is the SLIC info from my laptop after flash; this is showing it has v2.1 so i am unsure what is going on.

    Any help would be much appreciated...

    No one has the same problem?

    Only thing i can think of is.. on my pc that i got to activate it is running build 7600.16384 and the laptop im having trouble with is 7600.16385. (the final rtm build) Do i need a certain release of windows 7?

    Why is that "Duhhhh >_< "?? Can you please explain if you think im missing something so obvious..

    1)Reset bios to default.
    2)Boot Lan first
    or
    try use AMI tool, mod another method. Then flash bios. step 1 and 2

    why dont you post the link to your original bios and maybe some other modder here can mod it for you..

    I Have the same problem to on a asus M70
    When i do a afudos /pbnc /n i get unable to erase block

    I have the same problem and I have a asus m3a78-em mb and hp slic 2.1.

    I read it from the other thread that you have to enable acpi 2.0 in your bios. but it still doesn't work for me.

    Hmm yea i saw that in another thread also, i dont even have that setting. I just tried another self modified bios with "dynamic" method and used hp slic and cert but with no success - seems like a bit of a asus trend to me.

    I've tried at least 6 different BIOS'es for that specific board so far (tried to mod myself, from here and elsewhere). I have ACPI 2.0 enabled in the BIOS too.

    *None* of them worked so far.

    I think slic table on this mb and similar AMI bios boards is disable. try it on RW utility and see if you get the SLIC table. no slic table, no activation. :(

    Use the Lenovo, Dell or Toshiba slic.
    The HP one just don't work. Is crap.

    Ditto. The problem is not the SLIC table being installed.

    Ive read a couple of people (with different asus boards) using dynamic method with all three advanced options checked. Anyone have the balls to give it a whirl?? :D

    The fear of bricking my new laptop makes me cringe everytime i flash lol

    Nope. In fact Dynamic insertion doesn't completely work - bits of the old Asus are in the new SLIC. It may be on the right track though, since I've noticed that the address the SLIC is at on the clean BIOS is significantly different from where AMITool wants to write it in SSV3 mode.

    Asus M50VM

    i have a m50vm and used aflash2 to update the bios after inserting it with andyp's ami tool, works and activated.

    thanks to the bios guru's here. thanks andyp for your nice work.

    bump - any of the bios gurus have a plan of attack for these asus notebooks?? I've given up :p
