I noticed 7 unknown .bin files in my C://ProgramData folder (win7). I cannot find anything on the net about them, other that they might be Bitdefender files,

    agent.1628669017.bdinstall.v2.bin
    agent.uninstall.1628675283.bdinstall.v2.bin
    cl.1628669184.bdinstall.v2.bin
    cl.kit.1628669183.bdinstall.v2.bin
    cl.uninstall.1628675200.bdinstall.v2.bin
    vpn.1628669503.bdinstall.v2.bin
    vpn.uninstall.1628675115.bdinstall.v2.bin

The name seems to say that they are bitdefender files, but no one knows them.
For Virus total they also were new... I also ran a few softwares like Kaspersky and adwcleaner... nothing.

Does anybody know what they are? And what to do with them? Could they be leftovers from an old installation?

    Thanks

I would suggest contacting BitDefender Developer about that problem! May they could help?!

Thanks, but I already did that a few days ago, but so far I have received no answer... maybe an answer will come.
But is is my experience that for such questions that there will be eight answers, seven of which will be misleading... maybe I should have added above that I already tried most available AV-Softwares...

Maybe you use a HEX-Editor like XVI32 to get info on the files in question, like they're coming from WHO, etc.

Anyway, what happens if you delete (or rename) those files? Any action or do they come back automatically?

If you've Wireshark installed on your system, check out if there is any activity from these files on/via your Network!

Binary files could be also quite harmful, it depends on how they're programmed and for what!

I would be careful with anything coming from AV Developer, like BitDefender! Think about how it's possible that Anti-AV Developer already having the Anti-Tools BEFORE such attack files even were running at all and/or never got detected? Some time ago I/d read an article about such, in which the writer wrote that Organisations like NSA and others are checking if the Anti-AV Developers are the developers of some Attack (Virus) apps to boost their business! I was looking for that article again, but find, maybe it was removed from the internet?!

No, no wireshark on my stuff..
I guess I make a new restore point and then delete them and see what happens.
