You will all be better off looking at the virtualization forum for things like this. Also remember the vmware BIOS is version dependent!

 

This Hp rom is great. Is there a way to add it back into the vmware-vmx.exe file to use as the main rom. Thanks

Expire? I'm using the chinese lo*der and activated...

Until MS knows a way around this and lo*der doesnt work anymore I will keep using it (for testing purposes)

 

Any chance of a modded ESX4(i) VM bios? (machine version 4 or 7)?

 

I cannot get this vmware-vmx.exe file to work. I have extracted it with 7zip and when I load it into reshack nothing shows like it does when loading the original file. Is this a .res file or is the download bad. Thanks Regina

 

Did you compare the MD5 hash? If it matches, the download is good. It is not a .res file. It is a replacement vmware-vmx.exe file that has the modded BIOS inserted into it. All you need to do is:

Download the file.
Replace the original vmware-vmx.exe with the one you downloaded. I'm pretty sure you know the location but for the sake for others:

On a 64bit system, it is located in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\x64

On a 32bit system, I THINK it is located in (not too sure about the location):
C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Workstation\bin

Of course, if you installed vmware into a different directory, you have to look for it in that diirectory. If you are unable to find it, just do a search for vmware.vmx.exe on your hard drive. Once you find it, rename the original to something like vmware-vmx.exe.bak and copy the modified vmware-vmx.exe into that folder. Dont forget to remove the lines you inserted in the .vmx configuration file and the .rom file.

I used Restorator 2007 (IMO, I think it's better than Reshack) to insert the modded BIOS into the vmware-vmx.exe. I did notice it does not open correctly in Reshack. Use Restorator 2007 if you want to play with it.

 

Thanks. I am using vmware version 6.5.1 build 126130. After I place it into the directory and try to start a vm, vmware says it cannot continue make sure I have all rights and the directories are ok. VM player does the same thing. I checked the md5 and yes it was good.

 

Maybe because the vmware-vmx.exe was for the version I have which is 6.5.2 Build: 156735. Upload your version of vmware-vmx.exe and I'll insert it in there.
