ReFSv3 in RS3 is 3.3 (in RS2 it was 3.2). ReFSv1 (deprecated 1.2) now can be formatted only on mirrored volumes (who cares). In RS3 ReFS v3.2 autoconverts to v3.3 with 1st writting to non-readonly volume.
@moderate I was previously running 1703 Pro and utilizing ReFS for my backup setup. As we all know, the ability to Format ReFS was removed from Pro now that I am on 1709 release. Currently, I am still able to access my backup drives, but I assume that I cannot format ReFS anymore. Does your ReFS package essentially bring back the ability to format ReFS in 1709? Some of the terms, such as "Add_AutorecoverMOFsReFS_Only" I just simply don't understand what it all means. Thank you for your time and thank you for sharing this package with the community.
@moderate Thank you kindly for the concise information and details and for your time as well. I should note that users should be very careful with this at the current time on build 16299-15 as this has just thoroughly killed my bluetooth stack (reporting various driver errors) entirely and making the entire Event Viewer inaccessible. I will manually revert these changes bit by bit and see where these scripts went wrong and I will report back.
NO! ) You should NOT to import permanently: AllowFormatNonMirror.reg It is ONLY for formatting ReFS v1-2 and it should be undone IMMEDIATELLY after the formatting ReFS v1-2 by: (format X: /fs:refsv1 /u) To correct it: 1. Run regedit.exe 2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control 3. Delete entire key/folder: MiniNT 4. Reboot
After the installation I don't know how to use it (translated manually from italian): Code: format g: /fs:ReFS Filesystem ReFS is not supported by this device format g: /fs:ReFSv3 The new file system is ReFSV3 FORMAT not available for ReFSV3 units From Powershell: Code: PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Format-Volume -DriveLetter f -FileSystem ReFS -NewFileSystemLabel ReFS -Full Format-Volume : The specified file system is not supported Activity ID: {55e968b6-4821-0003-438f-ee552148d301} In riga:1 car:1 + Format-Volume -DriveLetter f -FileSystem ReFS -NewFileSystemLabel Re ... + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (StorageWMI:ROOT/Microsoft/...age/MSFT_Volume) [Format-Volume], CimExcepti on + FullyQualifiedErrorId : StorageWMI 43001,Format-Volume ... maybe because I'm on 16299.19...
As sed I'm on 16299.19 Windows 10 Professional, I've realized the files were for the .15. Of course I've imported the reg file (not the ReFS V1). The drivers are there, in the registry too but are from the wrong v version, could be that? Thank you
For what it's worth, I have been using this now on 1709 Professional and this has worked extremely well now for all purposes ReFS. Great stuff!
Does this mean that you can format a volume just fine? The command Code: Format-Volume -DriveLetter x -FileSystem ReFS works with your PC?
i remember that there were some ?media? apps that would work on ntfs but not refs. i cannot recall, are you to say that refs works perfect now without flaws?
I'm sorry I meant to quote @WildByDesign's post, not yours... I still cannot format any kind of disk or partition
