Hi, I'm using a legal copy of Windows 8 which comes with my Asus Laptop. How may I upgrade from 8 to 8.1 free? Regards.
On Installation Screen Just Select Upgrade and you don't Need To Reactivate. Or Do Clean Installation of Windows 8.1 And Go With Online Activation or Phone Activation.
If it's possible upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 via Windows Update, I'll wait 1 week Thanks for all replies!
Will I be able to download the "Service pack" and saving the file for using it another time on the same pc or another pc ?
VL systems I am pretty sure will not get free updates. If you have a retail channel either Core or Pro, you should be fine. We all will know in a few days Possibly, if not there will be the GA 8.1 ISO's (if they do place new ISO's with Rollup A on MSDN) that you can mount and run setup to upgrade 8 and 8.1 RTM to, or simply get the updates from windows update. we are talking about ~350mb for the downloads. X86 will be smaller. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a download for just the Rollup A as well.
I assume I have a Volume License? (It's a legit copy which comes with my new laptop) So it isn't free for me ?
I don't know if it is a volume licenced one but it is a legit one if your laptop came with windows 8, so i don't see the reason why you couldn't do an upgrade to 8.1
