Supposed that MS goes ahead with an yearly "change" and other infos running around, Windows Blue will be "just" an Upgrade (maybe SP1) for Windows 8. It didn't seems to be a New version of Windows and I don't believe that MS would be lower the timing for new OS's to about one a year! It will goe the same way as Apple does with OS-X: minor changes!
Don't forget that Apple makes a lot of money with selling their products and it doesn't matter, it's an iMac, iPad, iPhone or whatsoever hardware from them, the prices are just ridiculous high! Microsoft's product's are to more than 95% software, developed for the whole bunch of available hardware which COST ridiculous money for to develop. That Microsoft is on the way to change, not the OS only, also the pricing for those, we could see the last few month. Change will be not done in just one occasion, it will need some time and we have to accept that. As they go right now, it's a start in the right direction and hopefully they will carry to do so!
I think that will very hard for Microsoft to change their OS every year because OEM brands will have not enough time for develop drivers and tkis kind of stuff.Apple can do this with their OS because they own hardware...
Apple also has much less cost and need of developing power than MS because Apple need to develop for a very small range of Hardware only! That's completely opposite of what MS has to invest and to do! If MS follow his "old" trend and keep on developing the "new" system with Downward Compatibility in mind, they could still use a similar time cycle as Apple, which means: a change every year. In that regard, I do believe that they will still starting to develop major changes and new system in an time cycle of 2 or even more years. If take a look at Apple's time cycle, real major changes and/or new systems: OS 7 = 1991 OS 8 = 1997 OS 9 = 1999 OS-X = 2002 till today just to show the last 4 major changes! What is called major changes or even new systems, done by Apple only on the initial Versions like: 7, 8, 9, X! other changes are just showing with sub-numbering like like OS-X 10.1 ......10.8! The huge differences between the Apple OS's and MS OS's are the downward compatibility! Apple isn't very far downward compatible, if any! MS is quite far downward compatible. Also MS Software could run different systems which Apple's OS could without major hacking of that system! Apple also was need to adopt MS OS's and Apps for not to lose market share, but sue everybody Apple thinks using their software on others than Apple hardware! What I wrote is just a small part of an huge list of differences!
Didn't Urie close a thread already on this Windows 9 rubbish? Windows 8 has been out for 6 months already and now talk about Windows 9? Enough with this senseless nonsense already....
Windows 8 is from early 2010 with diferent builds...And now is the final version...but people's need A NEW TOY to play with
Clearly most people do not like Windows 8, so it must be why the topic of "Windows Blue" has been brought up. If we think Windows 8 is so bad does anyone think Microsoft will make Blue ant better, I think not. The trend towards unification among platforms will only continue to progress. We are stuck with this "Modern UI" so we might as well get used to it!!!
We like Windows 8 but since I saw no more customization threads about W8,the ppl needs a new toy to play with..
Actually the talk about Windows Blue started with M$. , what it turns out to be will be interesting. "Best Rumors" I have heard is it will "DEFEAT" the current (Pirate) KMS Activations. so that gives the "Code guys/gals" something new to play with .... while others "who claim to have inside info" is that it will simply revert back to "Windows 7 Start Menu". (yuk)
More or later we will have something from Microsoft based to an ideea: '''Where is no fire...is no smoke around!''
In 2013 Windows Blue will be launched as a major update for Windows 8....? There are many rumors about that on the Internet.Whereis Canouna?
Blue is something more than a service pack..coz it will add some new features (maybe the ui will get a bit more improved & easy to use)...that's why Microsoft will charge money for it..according to The Verge Windows Blue will be Microsoft's new low cost os
So, eventually one has to pay for 2 licenses (Win8 Pro + Win Blue) to get a real OS? That's the best marketing strategy ever. MS even surpasses Apple when it comes to charging money for a service pack.
Blue upgrade may be available for free/negligible cost for genuine 8 users and since MS has the genuine lane pretty tightly blocked up, most of us wouldn't qualify.
