I mean, in the past, with Windows 7, Ultimate and Enterprise where the same feature-wise (with licensing being the only difference)...

But now with Windows 10, Enterprise edition supports HWID activation, just like the retail SKUs...

    - So is it the most complete and feature-rich SKU like Ultimate was for Vista and 7?
    - Or is there another edition with even more features?

    - And a final question - Is Enterprise the closest thing we have to Ultimate these days?

All sku's, except LTSC, can be hwid activated.

It's not about features, it's about administration options.

The "highest" SKU (in terms of licensing) is Windows 10 Education. This one cannot be upgraded any further, tmk.

ent, edu, pro-edu and pro-work will have about the same features.

Well, it seems a few things changed since Windows Vista and 7 days then.

One final question: I currently use Enterprise... Which one of these would you recommend me to use?
I basically want the best of the best. The most complete and powerful SKU. (Because, why not? :D)

One thing I noticed by looking at the registry, is that all editions starting with Pro, are derived from Enterprise, they're subsets of Ent.
Anyway, thanks everyone for the clarifications.

Pro, edu, ent, pro-edu, pro-work (and serverrdsh probably too) are just license switches apart from eachother, you can simply switch by inserting their keys and then it instantly switches to the edition the key is for.

I remember someone here used to mention regularly that Edu version has relatively lesser ads by default because of its licensing & less tendency to ignore group policies(for certain ads?).
