hello, ive been on here a few times... yall are awesome. but i have a few questions i cant find anywhere... ... i have a brand new comp i just built. i love it. lol all new parts. had an issue with my XP install.. it would not work for the life of me. tried the seven disk my friend had.. installed no problem. it was a beta version i had no key i just put it on.. found mydigitallife and got a tool to remove teh genuine stuff... WAT. i used WATremover... it worked good as far as i could tell. no popups to buy a full vers. none of that stuff... well as it was a beta. march 1st rolled around and i started getting the bi hourly restarts. i thought that the WATremover would somehow fix that.. apparently it didnt... i assume that it is deep in the programing or something... so.. i my question is... is there a way to fix that without a fresh install of the retail vers. of windows 7 ultimate 64x? i already started d.l the win7 iso from the repository sticky.. and if i need i will do that later tonight. its just that i got it all set up how i like finally.. got all my programs and everything installed and set up... there are no issues except the bihourly restarts.... if i need to just go through with the fresh install.. i will but any info yall can garner i would apreciate! thanks -Fortold.
You can do what timesurfer and Dolorous Edd says, but there is no guarantee that the upgrade will be bug free. My recomendation is to do a fresh install, yes i know that is pain in the ass but is the best way. Cheers.
its possible. and personally my plan was to try what they said... but have the disc with win7 on it ready to do a fresh install... while i was d/l i kinda prepped my comp... moved everything i thought i would NOT want to loose onto my second HDD. saved my bookmarks etc. all my financial notes and stuff.... quick question before i burn this iso... i am using HashCheck as per the repository it says to check the d.l after its complete... when i right click and use the program.. i open the file after its done and it says match but i see no visual numbers that i can compare... is that how its supposed to work? automatically tell me if its the correct. i was thinking that it would give me the hash and i would compare them myself? thanks for the prompt replies guys. -Fortold.
