hi every one , smart guys i was wondering if there is a way for installing windows and getting the SN with this method ? new BIOS's (uefi) contains windows OEM SN ... Right ?! and while booting Windows 8 it reads the SN from the Bios and install it but there is lots of Windows editions (single lang, core, pro .... ) what if there is a way to make a copy of windows that can be used for all Windows editions and activate it with the OEM SN ? if there is , why aren't we using it ? and where is it ? thanks
Isn't going to work. The key from BIOS will only be accepted by the edition it's meant for. + the activation servers know which edition belongs to a particular machine and thus won't activate any other editions.
AFAIK windows setup reads any key provided in the BIOS / EFI's MSDM table (also dummy serials), the activation server then checks if it fits to the SKU / is valid in order to successfully activate.
okay lets say i have a laptop came with windows 8 Single Language .. for some reason i want to replace the hdd and i cant extract the windows key OR i dont have the right Windows ISO ! what the heck am i supposed to do ?
Backup your partitions or download a new ISO directly from MS. All you need to do is give them a valid key. Alternatively download the ISO from a torrent and then Windows will activate itself without you needing to input a key.
If it should trigger reactivation due to a different hardware ID of the new HDD you can phone-reactivate it.
AFAIK OEM machines doesn't care whatever devices is changed, except BIOS/mobo, and if you try to phone activate, MS people will just ask you to contact the OEM.
Dunno if things have changed 2014. An unused OEM: DM serial activated online on ANY machine the first time. And phone activated (automatic process, no human...) on a second.....(IID-->CID) And yes, I had not been able to trigger re-activation by changing peripheral stuff.....not even by messing with BIOS on a virtual machine..
they are pretty slack with OEMM since the key is generated for each and every PC now, reactivation of the same machine 10's of times without issue. You pretty much need to move the key to a completely different system for it not to work.
For most laptops you'll need CoreSingleLanguage, Core and Pro version of Windows 8.1. RW-Everthing is to dump the key from BIOS/UEFI.
The only way to activate different versions with that serial would be to modify those Windows Versions' system files and build a frankensystem. They kind-of do that when new windows versions come out, but they are actually time-bombed because they swap them with enterprise trial files. What you are suggesting is to modify your files to make it think it's activating core single lang while it is actually activating a different version. You should know that we don't support butchering system files. If you cannot get activation to work without butchering your system files, you really shouldn't be doing it. There's also the matter of the built-in WAT that likes to shutdown popular non-legit activation methods occasionally. It's mostly been quiet since most of the activation methods we use here mimic legit kms activation, but that doesn't mean it's not working. Back in 2012 kelorgo was mentioning the kms data.dat exploit that people could use fool prowmc activation into not requiring previous pro activation. It got a non-genuine block issued through WAT dec10-2012. There's also the matter of the background reporting your system does every day to data collection servers. Just trust us when we tell you that this is not a good idea. Just use your coresinglelang or use kms activation such as MTK or kmspico.
