I own a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6.I ve downloaded its modded bios,RAR pack contains 4 files in total. Two of them are same size which i presume are the bios files.I can update my BIOS via @BIOS of Gigabyte and thats it?Whats the use of the other files? And do i need them or just flash the BIOS and its all done?I m on Windows 7.Thanks for your patience i m new here
My advice is that you make a Bootable USB and Flash with Flashspi from DOS. @BIOS might work but has been known to not properly update the BIOS on some MB's. I always recommend using FlashSPI that Gigabyte includes with every BIOS Update on their site.
ep45dq6.BAK ep45dq6.F12 FLASHSPI.EXE HP.XRM-MS notes.txt reads: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6 Rev 1.0 ver F12 Used Award Slic Tool v1.12 SLP: ASUS_FLASH, Hewlett-Packard SLIC v2.1: HP Method: SSV3, default options Note: The included HP.XRM-MS is for Vista, not Win7
Some of the newer folks providing mods with the tools provide a backup of the original bios (I cant fathom why) and it tends to confuse a lot of people. You need to make a bootable floppy or usb stick, add the flashspi.exe and the ep45dq6.F12 files to the stick and type this at the prompt.. A>flashspi ep45dq6.f12 you follow prompts, and then clear cmos and load defaults in the bios manually. The mod was done with one of AndyP's tools, so it should be trouble free. the cert goes to windows, the .bak file can be deleted, and the text file is also a bit useless.. good luck... NEVER use @bios....
