A-V editing/ripping SW?

    Any ideas what actually works nowadays, please - and is free (even if it is a giveaway for limited time only)...???

    Cropping, cutting, choosing formats, resolution, audio channels, subs etc. Not very complex editing, that is...

    For editing try Shotcut and for screen-capture (OBS) Open Broadcaster Studio. Both are excellent open source applications.

    I second Avidemux, if you need batch processing then Virtualdub is good but you will need to download some extra files for H264 (MP4, MKV) support.

    Avidemux and VirtualDub can do the job for you, while both are free and open source.
