I tried using that and it told me my Bios isn't an H20 Bios.. I know it's an Insyde Bios, is there a difference?

    Problem BIOS

Here's one that ezH2O 2.1.0.13 opens but cannot modify. http ://support.acer .com/product/default.aspx?modelId=3853 (it's the 1.14 BIOS -- just open it up, navigate to the DOS folder to find the .fd).

The BIOS is from 2011, whereas the program is from 2009. I want to change something in the Setup menu (disable Cool N Quiet), but the tool reports "Program can't get need information."

Can anyone help me out? Is there another way to disable Cool N Quiet (or unlock the Advanced menu where it's found)?

Ive got a Acer Aspire 9500 (Modell DQ70).

Mainboard: Compal Stork (Chipset i915PM/GM, Southbridge 82801FBM (ICH6-M)

    Pentium M 760 @ 2 GHz

Insyde Software MobilePRO Version 4.20.10, using the "Acer HQD70" Bios 1.60. (512kb)

Right after startup it additionally says "Insyde ACPI Bios 4.20.09" short before initialising the HDD and the CD-Rom.

I made a backup of the 1.60 using the "Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0" but couldnt open it.

I downloaded the 1.70 : (cant post links yet)

    h**p://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_v1.70.zip?acerid=633643257974888117&Step1=Not ebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%209500&OS=X01&LC=d e&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_8

No tool can open this ROM either. (Andy's Tool, Phoneix Bios Editor Pro etc.)

There is no sign of LZMA or any other compression method, when viewing the ROM in a hex editor

I then extracted the winflash.exe and the platform.ini does not have the line "MODEL="

    What to do next ?
Any additonal info is welcome. :)

Same problem here. How to mod these Insyde-BIOS?

No Tool (Phoenix, Award, AMI, EzH2O) can open the bios-file.

The same BIOS, which supermario posted, Acer used this type of BIOS. For example:

    h t t p://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_v1.70.zip?acerid=633643257974888117&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%209500&OS=ALL&LC=de&BC=ACER&SC=EMEA_8

Any solutions or tools for this bios-types?

Anyone made any progress on acer aspire 5349 or 5749 or 5749z bios by chance, or know what tools to use to mod/decompress? Someone in another forum had a modded bios version but the links to download have been deleted for a couple of years. I have Acer v1.08 stock bios now, downloadable from acer's support site. I can upload a copy of the stock bios file if needed. Thanks for any help here guys, I really would like to enable every option available on my laptop to boost performance as much as possible, and I'm new to bios modding, so not sure exactly how to go about it here.
