I would try all the three files (*.exe, *.HDR and *.ROM). Go for a usb floppy if the file fits on it, if not available try for USB stick, try different plugs...also the name bios.*

After testing on Dell D620, Just putting file D620_A10.hdr on USB stick or USB floppy is ok for the BIOS recovery, while the same method is not fit for my current D610 yet.
While in this process, I found some difference:

D610 / D620: When holding press "END" by plugging AC adapter, the battery light is red. This is the same.

D620: After releasing the "END" key, the battery light is flashing by red and green
D610: After releasing the "END" key, the battery light keeping off.

    D620: If I has plugged the usb stick or floppy before unplugging the AC Adapter, there will be no any resposne for the enterring operation;
D610: Whatever usb devices has pluged in, the enterring operation will be trigged.

D620: USB stick and USB floppy are both work for it, just putting D620_A10.hdr to them and attach to laptop after unplugging AC adapter, laptop will start the recovery and automatically restart when finish.
D610: It seems USB stick and USB floppy recognized, while the D610 will shutdown after a short floppy reading, obviously failed.

Any one who has a D610 can help to do a test, and show the difference, so I can check if my D610 has been turned to a damaged brick from a good brick.

    :confused::confused::confused:

Till now, I have no further progress any more, I can not find the right info for this, and can get nothing help from offical support, I have searched so many many days for any possible key words in my opinion, and I have tried so many many files, all failed.

Any one can help on this?
What filename and bios image on the floppy can be accepted by the bootblock for Dell Latitude D610?

Thank you all very much, I have truly recovered my bricked D610 now, and I have found the common method for this.
    AZED????BIN, AZED????HDR, AZED????HDC, AZE?????BIN, AZE?????HDR are the files can be accepted

I don't know if a D620 has a codename, same for D630 but I do remember the name "Broadcom Polaris" associated with D630/D830

Out of curiosity, is there a database with those names somewhere?
I.e. names like model number seems work always:
    D630????BIN D630????HDR

My bad, not true for old models "with old flash recovery module" - “Back in the saddle again
Off we go into the wild flashing yonder”
Another question – during recovery there is nothing on the screen – VGA BIOS in not active yet.
I was wondering if there are any messages on com port?

Older Inspiron Laptop -- Almost there.. -- HELP!

Very cool trick! -- But no success here. I feel I'm really close. Any help?

    Here's my setup:

I have an older Inspiron 6000 that I bricked while updating the BIOS.

I extracted these strings from the HDR image:

    -----------
    TOB?????BIN
    TOB?????HDR
    TOB?????HDC
    I6000???BIN
    I6000???HDR
    -----------

I took the extracted HDR file and renamed it in four different ways, likeso:

    TOBO1234.HDR (8 chars filename)
    TOBO123.HDR (7 chars filename)
    I6000123.HDR (8 chars filename)
    I600012.HDR (7 chars filename)

I took a usb flash disk (2Gb), formated FAT32, and copied one image at a time.

I tried the "END" key trick while plugging the power in while the battery is removed, and yes, the light goes orange/red.
I release the "END" key and the laptop boots with the fan loudly on for about 30 seconds, and then shuts down.

It seems like it is looking for the image source and it is not finding it.
I tried multiple configurations for the flash disk, and it did not work.

I'm going to have to purchase a usb floppy drive and try it again.

For those that succeeded with this method using a usb flash drive: any special configuration on the formated flash?
