Hi guys, since it seems there will be no working activator i am thinkin to buy a legit key i used the upgrade assistant said its available for 39.99$ which is okay.. my questions are

If i purchase i will get a serial to type when installing windows right ? or it works in another way

How many PCs this serial can run? i read 2 is it right?

can i fresh install W8 with this serial?

why all those topics about backing-up W8 license, do i need it?

One Serial Key is for Only one PC.For other PC you need another serial key.

Just used the upgrade path and was never asked after a key. Did run the upgrade assistent on a Win7 Ultimate OEM install, made the payment, downloaded WIN8 Pro and saved it to a USB.
After that i used a new SSD to install with fresh key.

Also did the WMC upgrade with a promo key that i used perviously to convert a VL to permanent activation. :mml:

    Best 15 bucks ever spend.

so the trick about the fresh install is to have the system partition formatted before you install or u have to repartition from inside the windows.. i have an ssd too but its already have w7 and ill format when i install w8, would it work this way?

can i enter a valid windows 7 key which way purchased before the time they mentioned ?

Windows 8 Pro have Windows Media Player and IE right?

I was never asked after a key. I suppose because it was a OEM WIN7. To be to be eligible for the Pro version you need to have WIN7 Home Premium or Ultimate, dont know for XP/Vista. Also if you run the upgrade assistent from a 32bit your download will be a 32bit, same goes for 64bit

You can use your new install media (after download, when prompted how to safe WIN8, choose USB or ISO <- for burning DVD) to make a fresh install , on setup select advanced options and remove all partitions.

8 Pro has mediaplayer and IE, just no WMC.

today, I read on a German site, that MS has also put a plug into this upgrad hole. As said, MS now controles the previous W7 serial against their own server an detects if legit or not. This means, that the upgrade offer is still available until Jan 2013 for legally purchesed Computers with W7 on it. In the past, they obviously didn't dooblecheck anything in terms of keys and quite few went through this hole - Game over on this path as well :nono2:

    Short answer: YES, you can.

But you'll need to use an RTM either 32bit or 64bit for to use to install on your desktop. Reason are easy: Using the RTM DVD/ISO will not ask for the pre-installed Windows 7/Vista, you could just do an "normal" Upgrade or clean installation of windows 8. If you use the downloaded Windows 8 Image which were offered while buying the Key, it will need an installed Windows 7/Vista for to proceed with the installation.

Not sure, could it be a problem from the computers BIOS? I had to update the BIOS as well to the latest UEFI BIOS for the ASRock 990FX Fatal1ty Pro MB! I was getting reading errors of the USB Stick while starting the installation with the BIOS Ver. 1.80 so I upgraded to 1.90 and all ok.
