I have bought an acer aspire 5315 of a friend (cheap) when i switch it on there is no display. It powers up for about 5 seconds the fan stops spinning then it switches off. i have tried to flash the bios with the updated bios from acer but no joy. i had to rename the file ICL50.fd and tried a few other file extensions but not working. im not sure wether the chipset has died. the battery is still good and charges. i asked acer if they knew what could be wrong with it and they said it would have to be tested so they can find out were the problem is. im not sure wether the bios update for this model is capable of updating in dos. because the platform config file is saying it needs to be run under an application. ive attached the bios update config file View attachment platform.7z any help please
Sounds like the PSU has failed or failing and by the sounds of what your saying it could be the CPU that is causing the issue here, so I would say it is either the PSU or CPU or both. So if it powers up then the fan stops and proceeding to shut down I should take a look at the 2 suggestions I mentioned.
