Thanks LatinMcG for reply. i format the USB drive in FAT then copied the file you send me. i followed all the process but no result (1.) REMOVE CD or DVD if possible (you may have to press the power button the quickly press the CD EJECT button) (2.) REMOVE ALL USB DEVICES, NETWORK CABLES, (anything hooked to the laptop) (3.) PRESS AND HOLD the POWER BUTTON DOWN FOR 5 secs to shutdown the laptop (4.) REMOVE BATTERY (5.) REMOVE AC CORD (6.) PUT the USB THUMB DRIVE IN USB SLOT ON RIGHT SIDE OF LAPTOP (the one i used anyway) (7.) PRESS AND HOLD the POWER BUTTON down for 10 secs... release (8.) while holding FN + ESC plug in AC POWER CABLE, (KEEP HOLDING FN+ESC the whole time) (9.) NOW PRESS POWER BUTTON & HOLD IT DOWN... THE FAN SHOULD SPIN UP (keep holding FN+ESC) ONCE FAN SPINS UP, RELEASE POWER BUTTON (10.) eventually the fan will shut off.... (seemed like 30 seconds,, but could have been 5 minutes... i was freaking out) when fan shuts off i unplugged my AC CORD... REMOVED THE USB DRIVE,,,, and then plugged the AC power back in,,, then pressed power and my the miracle of technology and my preserverance... i got a green power light followed by an POST SCREEN!!! I followed every step mentioned above but in the 9th step , my fan didn't start, but when i release the power button then fan start but my usb show no signs of reading. I tried 2 different USBs can anyone help me to fix this. i trying to fix this for past 4 days.
i just now i did acer netbook AOD257 from V1.14 to V1.15 same method as u describe and it updated. did not have to rename the file. no windows flashing for me try 1 ram stick at a time.. i suspect your ram is at fault. but first try renaming bios.fd to ZG5.fd or ZG.fd or ZG5.bin last step would be to see who has spi usb programmer near you to make a backup.bin of that chip and we compare to the bios and send u fixed.bin to flash back to chip.
Hi LatinMcg, thanks for your reply, i tried that but still not working, i don't know where i was wrong. I simply format the usb to fat then copy the file and follow the ESC+FN steps. Please tell me what to do now.
I am really thankful to LatinMcg for the support. Please anyone help me on this to recover my Acer Aspire BIOS 5532, i download the Bios files from acer website , there are 3 updates i tried all three on Pheonix Tool one by one . The file name i got is "BIOS.F?". i try to search ".f d" the string using windows grep but nothing comes up. I copied the the Bios file and rename it to BIOS.FD and copied it to USB (formatted in Fat) along with Flas**t.exe , and Autoexec.bat (I edited the bat file with command flas**t BIOS.FD /ALL) and do the ESC+FN process but no luck, My USB is not responding at all. Please if anybody tell me the solution i will be thankful Kind Regards
Greetings, i do have the exact same issue, tried with several names for the .FD File, but no response from the usb stick :C, any other information ?
Hi Sadiqr, Its not only us, there were few of them who had the same issue so far till date within different Acer boards with Insyde Bios. So I've googled like crazy and found none of them had reported a fix for that, in which I strongly believe either they have sent the unit for repair to fix or must have got Acer warranty. So far I think BIOS chip may be got corrupted or completely failed, in which might need a reprogramming or replacement chip. I've put step forward in search of fix which in next few days I'll be doing some electronics DIY stuff to desolder the chip and reprogram it and see if it works. For this I'm also opening a thread and take some advice from great people here. Hopefully If everything works then I might write a guide here PS: In the mean while If you found a fix please let me know. Thanks
