Since not everyone will look here for the files:
    http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/7011

I created this topic to others owners of this nice notebook.

I modded and tested this file personally, so yes, it IS working.

1st download the original BIOS here:
    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5670/bios/3239.zip

Then replace .wph with modded one here:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/262056038/bios.rar.html

Flash just like it were the official BIOS.

You'll get something like this after reboot:
    http://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/88484

Conglatulations!, you have updated your Aspire 5672 to SLIC 2.1 (for Windows 7).

On reboot you might enter on BIOS setup to restore your preferences, since it reset some preferences there, in other to enter, press F2 on POST screen.

    Enjoy!

Thanks a lot for this, Gradius! You're my hero :)

Do you know if the old vista cert still works after flashing to 2.1?

2.1 is back compatible with Vista (2.0), so it should works just fine.

ripee did that and worked for him:
    http://keznews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=24522

    I'm going to try today.

    No joy, I'm using this:
    Code:
    slmgr.vbs -ilc d:\ACER.XRM-MS

    slmgr.vbs -ipk 22TKD-F8XX6-YG69F-9M66D-PMJBM
    I careless about Vista.

Guess is time to mod using Dell slic+cert.

Btw, I installed RTM final, but the key (22TKD) is OEM AFAIK, might be a problem?

Well, bad news for 5670~5672, I cannot find in any file on temp dir by PBE in which it needed to contain:

    Code:
    53 4C 49 43 76 01 00 00 01 7D 41 43 52 53 59 53 SLICv....}ACRSYS
    41 43 52 50 52 44 43 54 00 00 04 06 61 63 65 72 ACRPRDCT....acer
So the only one alternative for now, is to wait for Acer cert 2.1 to come out.

For study purpose, I found this on BIOS:

    Code:
    NS591 based PCU of ZG1S
    12/22/2006 0.34 ZB1(Build: 001.)
    Revision: 1.13
If someone manages to get an Acer cert 2.1, please PVT me asap! :)

That part isn't hard at all, just need a little bit patience and persistence.

Just go look at some "new" models (not so new) on Acer page, then check them here: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/

So just check those BIOS files if they're 2.1 or not.

For example, this one looks promising (05/06/2009):
    ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_7730z/vista/Bios/v0.3622.zip

Edit: hmm, I just checked is 2.0 (lol), but you got the picture.

    Hi Gradius,

Do you think you can spend sometime documenting step by step the procedure to mod this Acer notebook with Phoenix Bios? I've a Travelmate 6292 & would like to try modding it to SLIC v2.1.

    Thanks!

EDIT: OK, nevermind ..read the 1st url you posted!
