Hi guys my bro just got himself a acer 6930g laptop it has crappy windows vista 32 I want to install my windows 7 64bit rtm on it will there be any issue with loaders and acer?
Hi, Windows 7 should activate no problem on it as it sounds like a newly released laptop so should have the new slic bios.

Hi Malik22 I have the same laptop that I got this Xmas it does not activate Win7 as it has slic 2.0 bios and not slic 2.1, I modded my bios using Phoenix tool and worked perfect if you qualify for the FREE windows upgrade GET IT acer website does not have all the updated windows 7 drivers and apps and some of what they do have do not work properly eg: launch manager but the upgrade comes with all the apps and drivers on dvd if you use what drivers are on the acer site you will have lots of problems. I spent a long time making a driver and apps disc because of the problems I encountered trying to upgrade from my 6930g from vista to win7 even with the upgrade dvd if you do a clean install of Win7 it does NOT install all the required programs.
what do you mean it doesnt install all drivers cant you get those in windows update and where do i get the Phoenix tool ?
my brother does have the free upgrade windows 7 home premium 32bit with a cd key if I install with my rtm disc home premium 64bit will the key work with that?
Thanks exorcist if I mod the latest bios on the acer site 3238 to slic2.1 I will be able to install windows 7 64 ultimate correct? I asked someone to mod the 3238 in the Phoenix bios SLIC mod requests thread when I get it how do I flash can I use a usb key?
Yes thats correct don't forget you have to also use a oem slp key and add the correct cert. Check ur pm
