Hi It seems that from this week you cannot activate windows 10 with a windows 7 licence key??? Has anyone else come across this problem?? Thank you in advance
You might be able to still use the key if you use the correct upgrade path. Home -> Normal win10 Pro/ult -> Professional win10 You can try running slui and entering the key. If that doesn't work try slui 4. That should at least link you to the proper customer service people. As long as you have a valid win7 key they should be able to activate your system using the numbered boxes.
@murphy78, he means why doesn't win 10 take the win 7 key anymore, since 10586 it was able to use valid win 7/8 keys for activating 10
If such a change has indeed taken place, it must have beeen taken place in the last two weeks. I personally did this exactly two weeks ago and then there were absolutely no problems. I activated a Windows 10 Pro using Windows 8 activation key on such a computer what was produced and released in 2020, came in a factory package.
Hi Thank you for your reply. Yes I think it happened last week but not sure?? Just wondered if anyone has had the same problem this weekend!! Will try on another new build tomorrow..
