Is it possible to activate Windows 8.1 RTM using a Windows 8 key from Dreamspark? If yes which steps do I need to make in order to activate?
No; Enterprise isn't distributed through DreamSpark. Existing MAKs doesn't work for 8.1 (you need new one).
Thanks for asking before I did. I also have a dreamspark account and was wondering the same thing. Now I have my answer. ~MC
I shall wait for next week if they do provide downloads/keys on 19th, then fresh install to replace my win8.
I really wish they provide 2 separate keys for Windows 8.1 like they did with Windows 8. Oh, do you know how can I order a physical/backup disk?
Just a side note: presently many people when they tried to upgrade from win8 to 8.1 with the generic key, they were only given the choice to keep personal files. Some time ago I had mentioned an old-time work-around: edit or remove sources\cversion.ini. But if you have a real and legit win8.1 key(DreamsparkP, MSDN, VLSC, whatever..), there would be no need for the work-around, you will be given the choice to keep everything.
OFF-TOPIC but still I want to ask... Does NSBE Jr. International ($0) grant someone a DreamSpark Premium access?
I don't think so, the "scholarship" has been removed last year, even for those who pay the high member fees.
Also I don't know why people are separating keys, as DreamSpark, Technet, MSDN? Except VLSC and MPN wherever you get the keys for Windows 8/8.1 are RETAIL keys. So it should work with 8/8.1 Cheers
TN keys will be expiring with their accounts or after the 90 day extension. Anything activated up until then should be find but after that they probably won't activate (TN only). BTW, if you can prove me wrong I will be pleased as punch.
