should be noted that some antivirus programs find antiwpa and modded wpa files to be virii/trojans, at least in my experience.

wasn't necessarily saying yours are, just saying that in my experience they most usually are as i have downloaded many versions of xp in the past all with various activation methods related to wga, wpa, and antiwpa files and they all were reported as trojans by avira and avg after installation.

but i'm surely not going to download what you posted if that is what you mean. first, no offense, but i don't trust it right from the start based on what i've found through personal experience in the past; and secondly, i don't need it.

just relating my personal experience about such things

Using AntiWPA is a bad idea indeed

As for the VirusScanners.... what do you think about almost all?

But my Microsoft Security Essential is giving me no alarm on my Virtual Machine

So you say the only full proof activation method is VLK/Retail to OEM for Windows XP ?

    MSE 2. x doesn't like antiwpa.dll on this PC ;)

    Yes and No,

Yes, OA 1.0 pre-activation is the only full proof activation technique for Windows XP
No, VLK/Retail to OEM conversion isn't necessary... get rid of vlk media and simply use retail (change setupp.ini) or OEM media

FYI.... Why would you start off with VLK media?
OEM/Retail Media is more conveniently, as less files have to be replaced/altered

sorry, i was being chill, hence the cool dude @ the end of that post

my machine came with XP MCE 2005 embedded so the BIOS were already tattooed so to speak, didn't have to do anything to activate. but i had downloaded versions in the past so that i could get rid of my HP/third party crapware from my recovery discs--until i found the iso files here that is.

glad someone else chimed in to show you what i was typing about cause i surely wouldn't have posted if i wasn't sure of the information i was sharing.

    peace.

    I agree.

One is justified in being paranoid about most (if not all) cracked DLLs.

Unless one is sure of a file's pedigree, he/she is better off not using it.

BTW, McAfee Antivirus Plus (which has one of the best detection rates for antivirus software) found 2 trojans & 1 spyware in the ZIP file!

I've always found using cracked DLLs for Anti-wpa a rather ham-fisted approach to making XP 'Genuine'.
    Right said Fred!

When OEM media can be easily obtained, why?!

Even converting Retail media involves replacing/altering a lot fewer files compared to VLK media.

VLK must always be used as the last resort when one is unable to get his/her hands on OEM/Retail media.

Do you mean, get a retail Media... Change the last three digits of PID of setup.ini to OEM. Is it all ?
Or will I have to add the "4" Compressed OEMBIOS Filesets into the installation ?
    Anything else too ?

Please guide me.. I am a bit confused..

also, on other versions that i have used in the past, after windows was validated i had removed the antiwpa and modded wga files and windows would still be activated and genuine when i got updates from M$--but this could just be because i was using versions that were similar to what come on my pc oem, so i'm not sure if it will always work or not...

just thought i might add that.

I am still surprised that there is no method for activating Retail versions of Windows XP. The only one ful proof is change the VL or Retail media to OEM using OEMBIOS Changer by medic911 :(
