Hello, I'm relatively new to bios modifying and have learned a great deal of info thanks to this wonderful site. I have successfully modded and activated windows vista on my Biostar TA790 GXB A2+ motherboard using AMI SLIC tool but have run into difficulty when I trying to activate windows 7. I first tried the Dell and HP bios I found on the site but windows 7 was still in trail mode and was not activated, windows vista was deactivated when I tried this. I then tried an acer SLIC and Certificate but used a separate SLP for acer I got somewhere. I have included below the SLIC DUMP and certificate data/key. My question to you is what am I doing wrong? and can someone explain the relationship between SLIC, SLP, Certificate, public and private key, marker. How can you make you're bios ? With Ami Slic Tool 1.32 you can see if cert is OK with you're modded Bios . Test it . If you would like i have cert for your acer mod the name is : ACRSYSACRPRDCT.XRM-MS
I finally have activated windows 7 using the lenovo SLIC and Certificate, however the process was a little different as there was no SLP file to load into AMI tool so I left it blank. After I flashed bios, I loaded the Certificate (was this step necessary since I added the file in AMI?) and license via command prompt and it worked like a charm. I am left wondering, is the SLP file just the license loaded when you flash your bios. However this deactivated Windows vista, but hey at least I finally got windows 7 activated after 6 hours of trail and error. So I though that loading vista loader 2.1.3 might do the trick, well it did but... err... It deactivated windows 7 PrEzi mentioned that using a dell or HP SLIC 2.0 would activate both. Well I though windows 7 requires 2.1 SLIC. I tried HP SLIC 2.0 previously and it only activated vista.
Thanks FuzzyMaster, I think I'm getting the hang of it now. I don't really like loaders either because there detectable but now that I know each version of windows can have a different key, I have both windows 7 and vista activated. Again, thanks.
