Activating windows 8 WMC key

Yes it's possible, provided that the free WMC key has already been activated on the same PC before. You activate Windows 8 via KMS as normal, then upgrade to WMC using the key.

If the free WMC key in question has never been used to activate before, then it can't be done now.

I am looking for the same info. Would love to use my two unused legit keys. After reading some WMC activation & WMC generic activation tokens threads it seems it might be possible but one of the steps is not supported(allowed to be discussed) in the forum but there is plenty of hints on how it would be done... I believe you might not need to bother with KMS activation before using the promotion key & Skype would be your friend.

I was waiting for the option to disable eDrive before installation before doing anything with Windows 8/8.1 to protect my SSD. Now that that has been added to WinReducer 8.1 v1.11 I am looking how to do the correct activation.

I am some what knew to this stuff so I might be completely wrong about our options...

 

WMC generic tokens won't help if those two keys weren't activated before promotion ended.

 

Darn... Thought there was a sliver of hope to get them going... Guess I'll need to wait for Win9 to flop & for some WMC keys to be given away again...

 

can still activate with KMS, its like 30 or 45 days or something, just like VL editions are 180 days. With MTK and other KMS activators, it will keep the 45 days indefinitely.

 

Right... That was my backup plan... Guess the unused keys where blacklisted or deactivated from everything...

 

yeah, had to be used before a certain date or useless pretty much.
