    Hello,

I tried to upgrade my windows 7 x64 to W10 x64 workstation edition. I tried to use the gatherosstate from W10 iso and then replace it after the installation but it did not work. I wonder is it because of the trick not working on workstation edition or is that trick does not work any longer?

And second question, is there any way to get it legally activated without KMS or loader?

    Any information is greatly appreciated.

We stopped wondering when HWID on the fly generation was made possible here on MDL (a few years ago), now just google for massgravel on github and use that to get the hwid.

pd, that what you described can't ever work, afaik.

    nope.

just tested the win10 activation on a test pc after being upgraded from win7 home to win10 home and activation via digital license (genuineticket) still works on my end - and I'm not using any VMs

what edition or editions of Win7 were you using, sonic9? and what editions of Win10 did you upgrade them to? maybe when you did the upgrades you did not upgrade to "like" editions (aka. Win7 Home > Win10 Home, or Win7 Pro/Ultimate > Win10)

i've forgotten the hdd to ssd part so Windows 7 was not activated during Windows 10 upgrade, that's explain. Will be more careful next time.

How did you upgrade from Win 7 to 10 and what does the "hdd to ssd part" exactly mean?

sorry for my english, hdd was replaced by ssd, before the regular Windows 10 upgrade from Last uupdump iso.
i think i lost activation because capture wim from hdd then restore wim to ssd. Windows 7 boot loader was surely daz too. i don't remember. I will be more careful next upgrade about Windows 7 status activation.

Once the HWID activation is established and confirmed (when it showed "this system is activated by a digital license" it should not matter if you change the hdd to ssd, mainly mainboard / lan changes are the ones who can undo a hwid activation.

but next time you just can google for massgravel on github and find MAS 1.4 to get you a new HWID activation.

    sorry for my english.
once again reproduced on real hardware with never windows 10 used.
hp pro tower under windows 7 pro
original hdd cloned to fresh ssd, disconnected hdd then boot from only ssd, windows 7 pro keep activated.
migrate to windows 10 pro 20H2 (.804) , then activation failed.
so seems Microsoft cut free Windows 10 upgrade.
I will test another system, laptop, next week.

finally for my case, it was a timing issue for the win10 free activation from win7 activated on real hardware. i was too used to test in my fast host vmware...
