Just a precaution when you go to do your updates. Review and choose carefully what you update. If you can make an image of what you have now before updates just in case. Good job.
An image of your hard drive with Acronis on another hd or a DVD. You will always be able to repeat the process you just completed however it is always easier to start from the point you are now. Also some updates may not play well with your hardware and software combo. Something besides a restore point (which sometimes does not work) . Next step is backup plan "Post" Install the updates that are necessary and Kepersky's Internet security 30 day free trial. You can get a 3 liscense pack for around $25.00 . It really is a great realtime AV solution. My policy is never install an update that says "once you choose this update you won't be able to uninstall". For them to deactivate you they would have to deactivate every computer which has your cert and OEM key. We know that won't happen. Your a free man
Oh yes, I know starting from here is better then from scratch but atm I don't have another HDD big enough for that sort of backup. By POST install the updates, what do you mean? As for the AV software, as you can see I use MSE on ALL my computers, its not that its my favorite but its most pleasing to me, do you have anything to say about how MSE is the best or worse and as for the updates, it will tell me in the update details that it wouldn't be able to be uninstalled correct?
What I meant to say is you could start a whole new thread "Backup Overview". MSE is also good if you are already comfortable with it. Yes in the details it will tell you if the update can't be uninstalled. I always do updates manually but that is my preference. Search AIO or AIK . You seem know your way around computers. It will give you some options. An automatic incremental backup is what is the preference of most. That's what I use on my server. You can do the same on an external hard drive and a program like acronis. Research and you will find the way which suits you but it is a sooner rather than later endeavor. I wish you the best
Thanks for the know redroad, I will be looking into the AIK a little more later on, its just now I am :crystal: and want to play some games. (high) Im off
Nice, All I have right now is a 1TB HDD and I to broke to get anything bigger atm but its not like I am running or working on anything I can't recreate or need to have as backup of however I do have plans in the future to have a server just for that in my house so that everything is backed up in another location.
Redroad didn't post any keys in this thread, I did. But I censored the actual COA key leaving the Product ID cause as far as I know you cannot get the key from the ID.
