    i have hp dv2000
    bios link ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36501-37000/sp36869.exe

    old wifi card
    intel 3945
    PCI\VEN_8086
    DEV_4222
    Subsys_135b103c

    new card

    intel 5100

    PCI\VEN_8086
    DEV_4232
    Subsys_12018086

    ok now i download sp36869.exe and extract it and i get " 30B2F39.WPH "

    1.open " 30B2F39.WPH" with phoenix bios editor
    2. i go to " C:\Program Files\Phoenix Technologies Ltd\BIOS Editor\TEMP" and open "MOD_5100.ROM" with winhex

    http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/8809/15361181.jpg

    i search hex value:

    first: 86802242 -----> match
    second: 3c105b13 ----->match

    ok now i replace: 86802242 to 86803242
    and : 3c105b13 to 86800112
3.return phenix bios editor to table: " BIOS Configuration Parameters" change value 00 to 01 and change back 01 to 00 ( for menu build bios is Appearance).

i finish and flash bios now, but my laptop is dead.

who can show me, what me wrong? which wtep ?

    thank you!

already said to you, DONT USE phoenix bios editor for bios modding, Use andyp's tool in advanced mode.
At advanced choose: 'no SLIC' and 'Allow user to modify other modules'
Press go and wait until the tool pauses.
Modify your IDs, save the modification.
The tool will notice about changes that were made and will reintegrate the module.

A step by step is describe here for an EFI bios modding, but as far i know only few bios's can be mod by ID replacement.

that's a common situation after modification of a module, once compress his size is larger than before.
Imagine the bios is a wall and each compress module is a brick, if the brick is too large you cannot put it in place, if it is smaller it's ok.
Now how to reduce the size of the module, generally by modifying some useless strings, in your situation i suggest to use the whitelist. When the compression algorithm found identical strings the size decrease, by repeating the same string in the whitelist you will reduce the size.
you have the method, it's up to you now.

with no cq40 bios link it's difficult to answer, there is a lot of different versions

note: if you see something in the dump folder why do you ask me iif you can use Andyp's tool, you gave me the answer, yes.
if CQ40 has an EFI bios you must search the strings 104-U and 105-U to locate the good modules, if you are good enough in scripting it's easy.

sorry man, here is cq40 bios link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp49501-50000/sp49569.exe
you mean i disable string 104? i usually change id to add another one ( i love it ^^).
i hear some body said that : use ezh20 tool+ winhex to modyfi insyde bios ( open .wph file with ezh20, in winhex/tool/open ram /entry memory/ will find id wireless card and change there)
    is that right?

    Thank you for support:)

Where have you seen "disable string 104" in my post, i certainly NEVER write this. I wrote SEARCH the string 104-U to LOCATE the module, once you have the module it's up to you, you are a modder.

Yes, you can use ezh20 "direct memory edit" as describe that's certainly be easier for you.
Take care EzH2O 2.1.0.13 doesnt allow easy memory manipulation, use 2.1.0.4 instead.

note: HP DV4, Compaq CQ40 / CQ45 series with AMD Processors WWAN/WLAN whitelists removed: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/thr...es-how-to-modify-the-bios?p=333358#post333358
