I am installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 on a Genuine Windows 7 via Virtual PC....
So can I use this ? Will it affect my Windows 7 ?

If ur using Windows Virtual PC, then it has the "Microsoft" slp string already!! U can then use this tool without any hassle..... but if u wanna use XP Pro SP3 in it, then why not u use XP Mode???

Does this tool affect the system files ??
Can I run the sfc /scannow command in the console.
Cause when I runned the command it was asking me to insert the Windows XP Professional CD into the Drive to copy some files..
    Please help!

See PM. You cannot activate the MCE (or home as I understand) with the Genuine OEMBIOS sets..MCE needs sets valid for Server 2k3 to activate. There is a thread for the necessary files..

See previous replies..Genuine does not work with MCE for sure, and likely Home as well. You need certain SLP string and server2k3 oembios sets for MCE..

MCE = Media Center Edition = Windows Professional + MCE additions, no need for 2k3 oembios files....
i guess you are confused with WHS 1.x

Can you take an effort to make a list or better give a link to which all SLP string does MCE 2005 and Home doesn't work with ?

Is there an easy way to add a SLP string to Virtual PC 2007 without modding the BIOS.
I have tried adding DMI String... But that doesn't work too. :(

MCE is XP Pro, not server.

I am aware, thank you....Closer to XP Home in my opinion...I use a different oembios set to activate the HP MCE version...
