I'm putting together a new build with one of these new "advanced format" Western Digital drives (model # WD20EARS). Does anybody have any experience with these on Windows 7, and is there anything special I should do to get the best performance?

Please give a better explanation to "advanced format" ?
That is after all a standard based on NTFS (or whatever filesystem you intend to use) so I do not see what they are up to?

Advanced Format refers to 4k sector drives, not the filesystem.

As for precautions, if you format the drive with Win7s partitioner then there is nothing you have to do.

The sector alignment will be OK automatically.
