    Hi Guys,

I have a VAIO laptop here that I need to change the HDD on. I don't have recovery discs and I'm not really that keen on all the surplus software they ship with the unit anyway.

How can I do a genuine reinstall of windows? I have a copy of Windows 7 home Pro. Do I use the number from the COA? Will that work on its own or do I also need to install a ceritificate file aswell?

    Thanks

If by a "Genuine Reinstall" you mean fully genuine in the eyes of Microsoft, then yes, using your original OEM factory key will do that.

@ Pinknoise, if you use OEM:COA key you need to call M$ to activate where as if you use loader it will install OEM:SLP key + correct certificate and will Pre-Activate no need to be online or call M$ that is how your computer was originally activated.
