I have Windows 10 Pro installed on my computer. I wanted to try a few programs but did not want to install them on my main OS so I created a VHDX Native Boot copy of Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation and tried those programs out. I could have used a virtual machine but I thought Native Booting a VHDX would be easier. After I was done, I went back to my main OS, opened System Configuration (msconfig.exe) -> Boot and then deleted the boot entry for Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation, deleted the VHDX fle and rebooted. Once the system booted up, I went back to System Configuration and strangely under the General tab it was showing 'Selective startup' checked as the Startup selection. I unchecked it and checked 'Normal startup' instead but as soon as I checked it, under the Boot tab, the old & now deleted boot entry for the VHDX Native Boot Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation appeared again!! Can someone please tell me what's going on? Is there a way I can completely get rid of that VHDX Native Boot entry and start my main OS with 'Normal startup'?
Windows 10 (all versions) has ALWAYS booted in "selective startup" mode for me. It doesn't seem to affect anything, but I think it is normal behavior at this point. The only thing I can figure is if any driver component or whatever starts with Windows via "...Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" section in the registry, or service, etc. it becomes "selective".
