    Hi All,

My Mobile Intel i915PM Express chipset based IBM ThinkPad T43 laptop has no AHCI-IDE switch in stock BIOS even though AHCI is clearly supported by southbridge ICH6-M in it as follows from its datasheet. How much of an effort would it be to mod the BIOS so as to make it always initialize the southbridge in AHCI mode (no switch required)? Is it just the matter of setting a few memory registers to a particular value e.g. AHCI Enable (AE) to 1 instead of default 0 or a lot more than that?

    Many thanks in anticipation!
