My [strike]m17x R3[/strike] 17 R1 is completely disconnected from Dell's systems. If I enter the service tag or express code, it says it doesn't exist, so I can't get it from their site. Support just tells me to use the site, which again, doesn't work.
If you just install the system, you can just find the OEM image of the individual model, because it will not integrate drivers, software, wallpapers, etc., so it is meaningless, just a system with ordinary OEM activation information
@thetank18 Maybe you say what you really need. OK, yes in the title you write that .iso, but what kind of .iso? What should this .iso contain and why should it necessarily be downloaded from the dell server? There have been many different versions released with this name from October 2011 to May 2020 (these were the last one I found, maybe there is even newer what I don't know). They have different OP systems, different motherboards, different processors (some examples: i7-2630qm, Intel Core i5 10th Gen, Intel Core i5-7300HQ, I7-10750h) and so on. And all of them have been completed with different OP systems. Based on your data, it is full of impossible to refer to something in general. If You don't know, what is the Service Tag, then it's always 7 signs, ie 7 letters and numbers. Here are some Dell Alienware M17x R3 older versions service tags: GZ17362, F2WDGC2, 5VGHMC2 and 3KR8BS1, D33LQ72, 30W75Q1 (the last 3 may not work no more). You can find it in BIOS or on a sticker under the bottom cover of the laptop. If you don't have there nothing under bottom cover, use Dell Support assistant. But even it may not find nothing, if the pc is older version.
Try recovering the serial number with the command below. See if it matches what you have been using. Code: wmic bios get serialnumber
Update: Apparently the service tag is of an m17x r3, but it's actually a 17 R1. Why is this so confusing?
OK, I can understand that there might be a label missing from the bottom for some reason, but what's the reason you don't want to look it in the BIOS? And what do you even want to do with it?
It's in the BIOS. It's the same one on the sticker. I'm trying to get Dell OS Recovery Tool to make an image file, but it needs the Dell service tag.
Do you really need Dell iso? You could surely reinstall with an msdn win7 sp1 iso, update with simplix tool, and most likely activate just by using slmgr commands to install the Dell or Alienware slp certificate and key.
But you still haven't answered the question of which .iso you need or are looking for. What should be on it? And if it's an OS, why does it have to be downloaded "from somewhere there" or from "them". Tell at least, what you really need. Yes of couse, if You think Dell must have some kind of .iso, then it was 20 years ago when they had .isos with installation media but now they have only tool to download from Microsoft and make bootable media or recovery partition. This tool is free for everyone and works for every pc or laptop. If You need their default drivers, then also all drivers are downloadable for everyone from their servers. And if You really need some kind of help, then you must at least say what you need and for what version of pc. If You only say m17 R1 or what ever similar, then it'snot enough, because there is at least ten pc+s with the same short name, but as I already said with different mobo, different CPU and GPU etc. So what exactly You need and for which version of m17 R1.
Threadtitle: Alienware m17x R3 restore ISO? When you don't understand the topic nor the content of the discussion why on earth do you feel the need to reply?
