I remember the first days Windows Vista released i was in high school and in my programming lesson ,my teacher was keeping say "Windows vista is the worst operating system ever" ,my opinion is that she didnt know why she was saying that because most experienced programmers and users said so so she had to folllow them.
So because i believed that she didnt know why she was saying is bad operating system i did not asked her why.
Here in mydigitallife i know that a lot of good programmers exist so i want to ask you:
What actually was bad in windows vista? i know that with the latest service pack problems got fewer but i need to know before the last service pack what was so bad

    1. it was rushed since its development was reset in late 2004 and they had to finish it as fast as possible
    2. drivers problems
    3. program compatibility problems
    4. because of 1, it was unpolished, SP2 fixes this mostly
    5. it was given on PC's that had hardware for win XP

My first impression of Windows Vista was that it was very slow. And the hard disk worked all the time, so the computer (hard disk) had noises all the time... It never stopped... o_O

But I don't think Windows Vista was so bad as the rumour says. But when a bad rumour starts spreading about something, people will avoid it. Just to be sure.

Vista has updating issues. IIRC, also a nasty bug where there's always updating errors in the event log, from apparently always installing updates incorrectly on the first try.

(Servicing stack issues, IIRC.) (7's updating routines are better.)

This is a post I made on Overclock.net back in 2007 regarding Vista.

    Enjoy.

I never had even a single problem with any of my Vista machines (I have five licenses, not counting OEM:SLP). Different hardware, different problems. End of

And I'm sure your machines are all running SP2.

That doesn't change the fact that Vista SP0 was enough of a pile of s**te for lots of people to come to the same conclusion.

You have to remember, that post above was written WAY before SP1 came out.
At the time, I'd had so much crap and hassle from Vista that I was a self labeled "Vista Hater"
That doesn't mean that I still think Vista is crap. SP1 and later SP2 made the OS what it should have been from the start. Even then, with SP2 it's still a bit resource heavy.

I've been through all Service Packs, at least with some of my machines. Yes it has improved a lot, but so has XP. XP was similarly hated at first.

It was resource heavy, but i actually liked it quite a bit, and after sp1/2 it was even better:D

After sp2 its ok. Just too many security popups people where complaining about. Win7 just just winvista sp3 really.

vista sp2 is perfectly ok to use, but win7 obviously is just slightly better. When vista first came out there was alot of problems, as drivers where not there.
