Changing from Intel to AMD and wanting ECC-memories when assembling a new workstation. What has AMD to offer that is similar to eg. a Xeon W-3223 (Socket 3647) in a uniprocessor workstation? I have a Supermicro X11SPA-T at my work, but that machine is way to expenceive for a private investment. Otherwise it is a very nice machine. Browsing the products from SuperMicro, there are no motherboards that supports ECC memories for 1: Threadrippers 2: That are certified for W10 x64.
It's thread ripper what you think it will cost? It will be cheaper and better than what Intel is offering. If ecc isn't necessary then you can get a helluva lot of cores for cheap.
I was serious, what does that cost, not available on dutch stores, as far as i can see. nvm, i see they've added (s)trx4 socket mobos now >399 euro
Might be inflated given stock shortage, now just isn't good to build PC, PSU and motherboard are overpriced.
...It seems as TRX4 is the only AMD option. I do not need a zillion cores but ECC-memories for simulations that takes a lot of time. The cost however seems comparable to an Intel 3647 board. A bit odd that SuperMicro has no Workstation boards for TRX4... Anyway, I have never had any issues with ASUS or MSI-boards in the past. Thanx for the suggestion/links
