I am trying to set up a Raid 5, with 6 3TB hard drives on my Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 Rev. 1.0, socket 1156. I am currently running the F11 bios. According to my research, the P55/PCH intel raid chipset should support 3TB drives, but the bios has not been updated by Gigabyte in over 2 years. I need to upgrade my Intel Rapid Storage Technology Option ROM. Could anyone here help me create a cutom bios with the updated Intel Rapid Storage Technology Option ROM that supports 3TB hard drives?

Thanks!

UPDATE: I have received what I needed...Thanks

Hi, I'm in a similar position to homerjr43, having a Gigabyte GA-H57M-USB3 (BIOS F9) and just bought 2 3TB drives - the Intel OROM needs updating as the Intel RAID only sees them as 765GB (and won't create a RAID 1 drive properly).... I've tried using CBROM32 1.98 (the most recent version I could find) to update the OROM but it doesn't seem to de-compress the BIOS image correctly and doesn't allow me to replace the OROM with a later one supporting 3TB drives in RAID 1.

Here's what CBROM32 returns, with no list of the elements in the ROM:

CBROM32 V1.15 [Oct 3 2007 Release] (C)ASUSTeK Computer Inc. 2007

******** Memory Sizing Code ********
BootBlock 0000 (0.00K) BootExt 5849 (22.07K)

Total compress code space = 7E2100h(8072.25K)
Total compressed code size = 25DDBh(151.46K)
Remain compress code space = 7BC325h(7920.79K)

SLOT1 04 06E5 | SLOT1 01 06E5 | SLOT1 12 0651 | SLOT1 09 0652
SLOT1 02 0655 |

Can anyone help me with a version of CBROM which will work (I'm used to splicing BIOSes using MMTool for my ASUS Z68 board to update the OROM on that), or an alternative tool which works with later Gigabyte BIOSes, or what I'm doing wrong (the above output was just from doing CBROM32 <image name> /D) ?

Thanks :)

Hi guys!

I bought a notebook MSI GE60-OND with Windows 8 and I want to change to windows 7. But on the MSI wrote that I can’t change BIOS if was already installed for Windows 8.
“...- If the notebook you purchased has Win7 Bios installed, please DON'T attempt to update using Windows8 bios (or vice versa). Failure to abide may result in bricking your system...”.

Can you tell me please if there is a way to flash Win 7 BIOS on the notebook with Win 8 BIOS already installed?
Cheers.

@ badamecki:
It may be possible, that the BIOS of your notebook has been optimized by MSI for the use of Win8, but you should be able to get Win7 installed nevertheless.
There is neither a Win8 BIOS nor a Win7 BIOS available. A BIOS is OS independent.
The only possible restrictions regarding the installation of any other OS than Win8 may be some hidden data, which are stored on the HDD, but you can easily erase all these data by using a tool like Parted Magic.

Hi experts. I seem to be in a similar situation here. I have an Asrock p55 Pro/USB3 motherboard, I recently bought two 3TB WD RED HDDs to add to my raid drive, unfortunately the RST in my bios erroneously recognises the drives as 746 gigabytes instead of 2.7tb (3TB drives). Is it possible for someone to create a modded bios for me to include support for the 3TB drives in the intel RST rom from the bios?

I tried to put links to the motherboard specification and bios page but apparently as a junior member I'm not allowed to do that.
The manufacturer also linked me to some raid drivers however I think they have mistaken my problem.

Thanks to anyone who can/will help! cheers!

I've been using this on my P8P67 Deluxe . Intel Rapid Storage Technology 12.0.0.1083 beta drivers.

> Specially modified Intel RST (s) RAID ROM v12.0.0.1783 with TRIM in RAID0 for P67 and Z68 chipsets<

Trim is working in Raid 0 , TRIMcheck: A FREEWARE TRIM TESTER / reports trim is working.

No issues with the Rom Mod or RST Drivers.

Tried the new Intel RST (s) RAID ROM v12.0.0.1783 on my P5Q Deluxe and it is working well so far for AHCI mode, just as the 11.x oROM.

Me. Working flawless for me; I had just a little slowdown of the system at the first hours of use, I assume this is something TRIM related.
In fact, there's a doubt around the net if TRIM is working with RAID 0...

I just upgraded from 3 Vertex 2 60gb Raid 0 , to, 2 Vertex 3 Max IOPS 120gb

What would be the best strip size for the raid 0 / 16k ? On the 2 Vertex 3 Max IOPS 120gb

Also about write-cache buffer flushing : Disabled
Cache Mode : Write Back

Is the above safe & ok to set ??

Thanks & much appreciated for any info you can give, as it’s got me a bit confused..

I was told to go with the smallest stripe size for the Vertex 2 set up , I don't know about the new Sata III drives ..

It's a bit hard to find updated good info on this subject..
