Whats wrong with Microsoft Security Essentials? I´ve been using for a really long time on a lot of computers I own and manage, now Defender on Win10, and not a single issue in years.

I love MSE but I don't think you can use it if you're activated with DAZ, isn't that true?
I'm sold big time on Avast Free, but do a custom installation and only install the minimum number of components. For myself I did nothing but File Shield. Also, your PC will run a lot faster if you turn off some of the settings, things such as "Reputation Services" (IE: 100% spyware, lol).

Avast is a truely genius idea, they just helped ccleaner to infect some of the greatest electronic corporations like Intel, Microsoft, Sony, Akami, Epson, MSI, Cisco, Linksys, Samsung and HTC... All people who know nothing about security, obviously.

The biggest problem with malware is.... YOU! As long as you do not do anything really stupid, you are safe with MSE. I am not a specilist at all, but I uninstalled Avast, when they brought their all-out sniffing and data harvesting new version "for free"!

I have met people who opened an e-mail attachement from an unknown sender in spite of the fact that it was called an .exe file!

Unless you do something stupid (many say installing Win10 is very stupid) you will be safe with MSE. Run Malwrebytes once week. I like it, tells me once a week, I am clean....

    True.
But if I have the DAZ Loader install file on my thumb drive and I plug it into a pc running Bitdefender,... Bitdefender will get the Daz install file asap, Then I have to fish it out of the quarantine folder

What about AVG Free? It's lightweight and lacks all the bloatware that Avast carries. And seems to not cause problems like Avast does sometimes.

    Avast can be very annoying
Try Bitdefender. They have a free version and it just sits in the corner and does it's thing

    You do not enjoy fishing?

And why is that a problem? Many AVs detect Daz. They ALL offer the one click solution to "Permanently exclude"!

I installed Avast free, just enable File shield, Behavior shield, Mail shield and Web shield. That's enough for me, very light and performance.

    Obviously your showing your ignorance.
Install Bitdefender free version on your pc and then pop in a usb with the Daz installer. It Does Not Ask. It'll just take it and give you a pop up stating it removed a potentially harmful program.
I'm not going to argue with ignorance again
