Probably been asked before, but I could not find a good solution: After a clean installation for Windows LTSC 1809 or Pro 1903, on a VirtualBox and some laptops, I get the problem that shouts out: "An app default was reset", this can be for .jpg or .bmp usually but in general for different extensions. It also seems to give some performance issues as when this message appears the CPU usage goes up. I found many articles on this, so it's a common problem, though I did not find a solid solution that works for all - I made a clean install from the original ISO on different platforms, so it must be something generic. Really sorry if I asked this and the solution is already out there, but I just didn't find it. Thanks for the pointing, or the help. Happy Holidays!
There is absolutely no solutions needed, because You said that You made new clean install, then it is absolutely normal that all changes what were made in previous install will be reverted to defaults. If You said, that .jpg and .bmp images default settings were restored, then it is also absolutely normal. What the sense is to make clean install at all if all old changes will stay? Maybe these were made by malicious programs or malicios people and You wnat, they stay still there? Of course not. Maybe you set some other program or app to open these pictures, but it is not yet installed, how can it be the default program to open these pictures if it isn't even installed? You said, it gave some performence issues, CPU usage went up - absolutely normal, CPU worked on restoring wrong settings. It restored Your default apps for all your old personal files, how else it can be at all?
Thanks Charl for your reply, have you actually used that 2017 script from tenforums and did it work for you? I have tried this on latest LTSC and the App reset message is still appearing...
