I use an 560GB SSD for basically everything I do all day long on this desktop computer. I also have a 4TB HDD installed for all storage, which I obviously only access maybe once a day. There are about 2.5 TB data stored on it.

But this big disk seems to interfere with the speed of my computer, which is run with an i7 4770.

Is there some kind of a "software switch", that I can install, which allows me to activate or switch off this one disk, and only run it, when needed?

Is that 4 TB HDD an internal SATA one or an external USB one?
If it is an external USB one, is it left powered on all the time?

Is that 2.5 TB of personal data also backed up in other separate media?
Having only 1 copy is playing with fire, especially when it is in a mechanical HDD.
If that HDD fails, you can probably kiss your personal data good-bye.

Thank you, but you are not really answering the question I actually did ask...

I don't think so, it says: "The following hardware have been tested to work."
Meaning other not tested hardware might work. I've tried on several computers without issues.

Thank you very much, it does indeed work and does what I need.
Especially Firefox loads my webpages noticably faster....
