I don't see this talked about much anywhere, but which bypass methods are available for upgrading (not clean install) to Windows 11 24H2? Microsoft has closed a lot of the previously available methods including using a modified appraiserres.dll and using the "/product server" command. If worse comes to worst, I can transplant boot.wim to previous version to create a hybrid installer, but I am trying to make minimal or no changes to the ISO.
There's a hardware requirement in v24H2 that cannot be bypassed clean install or upgrading unless your CPU supports a certain instruction set.
Even Intel Nehalem from 2008 has SSE4.2. I doubt that many people run Windows 11 on PCs older than that.
FYI the AMD Athlon II X2 250, and suspect most "Athlon II X#" (and also can be Phenom), don't have the POPCNT, I have another PC with the processor and the ISO directly don't boot, the 11 23H2 ISO yes do
Let's assume that the unsupported hardware has the correct instruction sets to run Windows 11 24H2. (Not having the correct instruction sets is another can of worms that I am not going to open.)
I said on the first post that I am looking for bypass methods to "upgrading (not clean install) to Windows 11 24H2".
What cpu is it and if it is a modern one (>core2duo/quad) you can use this tool to fix the ISO: Win 11 Boot And Upgrade FiX KiT (v5.0 Released!!!)
https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/win-11-boot-and-upgrade-fix-kit-v5-0-released.83724/ This. Edit: Ninja'ed by @Enthousiast
Try 23H2 to 24H2 upgrade + Win 11 Boot And Upgrade FiX KiT v5.0 (AIO 2b) LGA -1366 , SSE4.2 , Legacy BIOS 1)C: - SSD (MBR) 2)D: -RAID (GPT) get "a disk read error occurred" after restart - rolling back to 23H2 like elevenforum.com/t/in-place-upgrade-windows-11-v-24h2-build-26058-1100-to-26063-1.22896/post-423317 Any ideas how to fix?
Damn, I missread that v5.0 bypasses SSE4.2 and POPCNT on old hardware, when doing a 23H2 to 24H2 inplace upgrade. I guess we arent there yet and probably never will. (?)
hmm... I read some users get it working to off D: on load... May be replace bootmgr + boot files from 23H2 ? If anyone finds a solution - please post result.
